Employer Contribution ModelerPowered by AffordaCare plans

What is the least you need to contribute, and what will it cost?

Enter your workforce and your lowest-paid full-time employee. The modeler estimates the minimum employer contribution that keeps the MVP plan affordable under ACA rules, shows what employees would pay on every AffordaCare plan, and estimates your monthly and annual cost under different enrollment scenarios. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How this is calculated
  1. Plan year comes from the effective date. The affordability percentage is 9.96% for 2026 plan years (IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-25) and 10.22% for 2027 plan years (IRS Rev. Proc. 2026-26). Later years default to the latest confirmed figure and are marked "confirm for plan year".
  2. Monthly income uses one IRS safe harbor: Rate of Pay (hourly rate x 130 hours, or annual salary / 12), W-2 (Box 1 wages / 12), or Federal Poverty Line (single-person FPL / 12).
  3. Maximum employee share = monthly income x affordability percentage, rounded down to the cent.
  4. Minimum employer contribution = MVP employee-only rate minus the maximum employee share, rounded up to the cent, never below $0. MVP is the lowest-cost AffordaCare plan that is intended to meet Minimum Value.
  5. Employee cost on any plan and tier = plan rate (plus $190 specialty pharmacy on Premier plans if selected) minus the employer dollars, never below $0.
  6. Scenario cost = enrollees in each plan and tier x employer dollars, summed. Simple mode estimates enrollees as full-time x enroll % x plan share x tier mix, so counts can be fractional. Annual = monthly x 12.
  7. CHAMP, if turned on, subtracts the net savings per CHAMP participant from the employer total.
  8. Plan count ladder: 5 to 9 enrolled may offer 1 plan; 10+ MVP plus one metal; 25+ MVP plus two; 50+ MVP plus three. Minimum 5 enrolled per plan offered.
